Stem cell therapy is a promising direction in medicine based on the application of the regenerative potential of the stem cells of the body in order to treat a wide range of severe diseases and restore from injuries as well as combat premature aging.

In Ukraine, treatment with stem cells was introduced into practice ten years ago. Since then, the numerous studies have been conducted and data on the beneficial effects of that approach to the treatment of more than a hundred serious diseases have been obtained. In some cases, it is virtually the only method of treatment.

Mesenchymal stem cells

Multipotent mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), an important (and relatively rare) population of SC of the adult body, have a wide range of potential applications in regenerative medicine. MSCs can be isolated from the bone marrow and adipose (fat) tissue. Unlike the bone marrow, adipose tissue is more accessible for the cell extraction.

MSCs are capable of differentiation into adipocytes, chondrocytes, cardiomyocytes, osteocytes, neurogenic cells. Moreover, therapy with stem cells of this type contributes to the effective body recovery.

Due to the application of autologous (own patient’s cells) MSCs, there is no need for searching and obtaining donor biomaterials for treatment as well as the need for immunosuppressive therapy – MSCs have the immunosuppressive effect on immune cells.

Neurodegenerative disease is an umbrella term for a range of human NS conditions which arise from the death of neurons. Infections, intoxications, physical trauma, metabolic disorders, hereditary predisposition can be the factors.

Today, it is possible to diagnose neurodegenerative diseases in the early stages, but there is no complete cure for many of them. Supportive and behavioral therapy, constant medication, significant limitations seem to be all available offers of conventional medicine.

Orthopedics is concerned with the correction or prevention of deformities and impaired functions of the muscular-skeletal system. Pathological abnormalities can be congenital in nature or be the consequence of disease and/or trauma.

Traumatology and orthopedics are interconnected: mechanical, physical, and chemical damage causes local and general changes in the body.

Orthopedic diseases are classified by their nature/localization into:

Until now, orthopedic treatment has involved non-operative (conservative) therapy and surgery.

Regenerative medicine is a fundamentally new form of therapy for the treatment of degenerative joints, muscles, and ligaments based on autologous mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that develops due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency. Lack or of insulin, or inability of the body tissues to properly use insulin causes the rise in blood glucose levels – hyperglycemia, which is dangerous for almost all body systems.

There two types of diabetes:

Type 1 diabetes results from the pancreatic cells failed to produce the sufficient amount of insulin.

Type 2 diabetes results from the body’s resistance to insulin produced.

Stem cell therapy for diabetes: choose life without limits.

Stem cells have a unique property – the capacity of transforming into any cell type including endodermal cells:

  • Stem cell therapy is very effective for type 1 diabetes: SCs transform into pancreatic cells responsible for insulin production, thus, damaged tissues restore. The patient has a real chance to overcome insulin dependence or at least reduce the insulin daily dose by half.
  • For type 2 diabetes, pancreatic cells responsible for insulin production are cultivated in vitro from autologous MSCs; then cells are implanted into the pancreas. After a single administration of autologous MSCs, patients with first-stage diabetes have normal levels of glycosylated hemoglobin and blood glucose, i.e. these patients no longer need insulin injections and immunosuppressive therapy.

The therapeutic effect: normalizing the pancreatic function, improving the patient’s condition. Stem cell therapy strengthens the immune system and restores the cardiovascular system: it is especially important for diabetic patients because the disease is often complicated by a serious impairment of blood circulation, particularly in small vessels of the extremities.
